Honoring or marking life's important moments, events or transitions with celebration and/or ritual is a universally recognized practice, and for good reason. Psychologists, sociologists, and ritual experts all agree that these types of activities:

  • Help people to understand their (new) place or status in their community or society. Hopefully, within these celebrations or rituals, the individual receives information or guidelines as to what is expected of them in this new role.

  • Give people a sense of belonging to that community or society. Even in our rather individualistic society, humans have an innate need to belong in some way or to be able to relate to a group within the society. If they cannot find positive ways to fulfill this need, they will find negative ones.

  • Assist others with recognizing the change in the individual and their new place or status in the community or society. Hopefully, this signals others to modify their behavior towards the individual to recognize this change. (For example, not treating an adolescent as a child any longer.)

At Life Rites & Celebrations, Rev. Ari or one of her two Associate Ministers will work with you to design a personal and meaningful celebration or ritual to honor your important life moments and transitions. From birth to death, and virtually everything in between, we can help you throughout your whole life to mark those occasions that make your life whole.

The ceremonies listed to the right represent the various services we currently offer at Life Rites and Celebrations. If you do not see the particular type of ceremony you are looking for, please email Rev. Ari with your request.
